State of Quantum report 2024 sees early potential for AI and Quantum

The 2024 State of Quantum report highlights the latest research trends in quantum technology analyzing leaders’ opinion across major geographies and industry sectors.

With Artificial Intelligence being one of the hot topics of our time one of its key findings is that quantum computing is not a replacement for AI or machine learning but a potential complement. The report states that Quantum could enhance AI by accelerating high-performance computing (HPC). Current AI technol­ogy may also assist in overcoming technical challenges in developing quantum computing on its path toward prac­tical use. The two, in combination, could open applications such as generative chemistry and digital twin simulations, with artificial intelligence to handle sequenced tasks (with ongoing adjustments) and quantum computing to be bet­ter suited for the probabilistic computations involved in these operations.
